Starting nursery

DD-25 weeks has had 2 settling in days at nursery. One good and one involved tears. Just wanted to hear about peoples experiences when their dd or ds started nursery full-time, as mine is next week.

I'm a Mum, and a Nanny. My tips are..keep smiling. Make very little fuss over the whole thing. Big cuddle as you leave, don't hang around, kiss and tell her you'll see her soon. Big smiles all the way and then go!

She will settle within minutes.

It is a positive thing to teach your child that she is safe without you.By doing this, you are showing her that you have no fear at all and that consequently, neither should she.

It is a joy when you wave your child off to school on their first day and they shout...see ya!

You know that you've succeeded then in raising a confident child.

You may cry...save it for the car though!!!

Just wanted to say hello to all mums at mumsnet and ask for help
I am thinking about placing my 11-month old dd to nursery for 2 mornings, but don't know where to start. What to ask about, what to look for etc. I am completely new to this, so would apreciate some advice. To this moment I was at home with him, as I work from home, but as he is growing and starting to move around, it is becoming more difficult for me. Does anyone live around Dorking, Surrey and knows about good nursery? Thank you very much for any informations. Andrea

I found it was a bit like house buying. As soon as I walked in I knew whether I liked it or not. Look for experienced staff. Ask anything and everything that is important to you. When I have a little more time, I will add some questions for you.
