Is it normal?

For a nursery worker to take your two year old DD to the toilet, start pointing her finger and saying quite loudly "stay there"? I'm thinking not. My DD only just started nursery few weeks ago and after that occurrence she really doesn't want to go after initially being fine. Had to bring her home other day as she was screaming her head off and hanging onto my hair. She made herself sick today with crying when DH took her. She goes two afternoons a week. I'm so worried.

Should add, she's been potty trained a few months now and won't go to the toilet in nursery now do we have to send her in with a pull up on. She won't even consider weeing in a pull up at home insists on going to the loo.

Have you seen this nursery worker do this?

No my Dd came home and was copying the finger pointing and repeating "stay there" in loud/ stern voice all evening. I asked nursery and they said she wouldn't go to the toilet...

Sending her in wearing pull ups when she has been potty trained is not an approach i'd be happy with, for starters. Your daughter is obviously unhappy if she won't go to the toilet whilst she's there, and if she's getting more upset rather than settling in. I'd want a meeting with the nursery manager to discuss what their approach to toilet training is and how they can support your daughter whilst she's in their care. Whether or not I would keep sending her would depend on their attitude and what they say.

I would want to discuss this with the nursery, there could be a simple explanation. I wouldn't go straight for the jugular so to speak on the word of a two year old.

They often go through phases of not wanting to be dropped off, my dd does and she has been going since she was 5 months. It may be coincedental. So ask for a sit down discussion with the nursery manager and her key worker

Yes I agree. She has done so well potty training but she wet herself the other day at nursery after the toilet incident and now she won't let any of the nursery staff near. They had a problem even getting her coat off today. She's always such a good girl (if a bit strong willed). She's never had anyone apart from me and DH look after her as we have no family. Don't know what to do as I'm SAHM and only sent her a I thought it would be good for her socially. Although we do go to mums and tots, music class, dancing etc together.

If you're not completely satisfied with what the nursery manager says then I would withdraw her, given you don't absolutely need the childcare. She'll get plenty of socialisation at the other things you're going to. Maybe you could try a different nursery or pre school when she is 3+?

Thank you. Yes, I think I'll have a talk with them but unless they can fully reassure me I think im going to take her out and leave nursery until she's a bit older. Having said that maybe it's just not the right fit for us and our style of parenting.
