Hi. I have a 10 month old babygirl, and I'm looking for good daycare reasonably close to GMV. Any info from personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Lingfields in Blackheath is great facilities-wise, esp its wonderfully large, mature, quiet garden. Staff no better than anywhere else. might be a bit far for you though. if interested you should put yr name down NOW for a place 18mths+

hepatia, here is the list of day nurseries provided by Greenwich Council: link

I don't know if there are any in GMV itself. I think Robert Owen (run by the Council) is the closest but would be a 5 min car/bus ride away. The babyroom is very popular. It chooses on a strict proximity basis. If you call them, they will be able to tell you the "catchment area".

If you are out of catchment, try Teddies (BUPA-run). It is also very good, but put your dd's name down NOW because there is a wait list.

If you can wait until dd is 2, more nurseries become available to take her in. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I'm a bit surprised about Teddies, since the OFSTED report doesn't sound great. The word of mouth seriously counts though!

Teddies' OFSTED report is not great? hmmm don't remember it being an issue when I was looking 3 years' ago. OFSTED reports can sometimes be a bit arbitrary. I can vouch for it personally . And they are in the process of refurbishing all the rooms.

But whichever nursery you choose, do visit it and go with your gut feel.
