2 year old just started nursery

Hi, just wanted some reassurance from other mums that might have gone through the same thing.

My 2 year old just started nursery and is getting upset when she's there. She has only been to 2 sessions, one half an hour long and one hour long, so I know it's early days but today she seemed so upset when I left. How long did it take your lo to settle and how did you help them? The nursery said she was off and on and when I picked her up she started blubbering and said she wanted to go home. I felt so bad for her.

Hi lyssie29, just been through the exact same thing with my 3 year old......hysterical when I left, teary during the day and over emotional & clingy when I picked up!!! It DOES get better!!!
It has taken about 5 weeks, but now he is happy & settled!!
Think it just takes a bit of getting used too!! Now he has bonded with the staff & began making friends he is absolutely fine at drop off & eager to tell me all about his day at pick up!!! Still get the occasional grizzle or 'I dont wanna go nursery' or 'but I'll miss you'.....but nothing compared to those first few sessions / early weeks!!!
The nursery staff were great, reassured me that it may take time to settle and they were right!!!
Give it time, its hard when they are crying etc but it will get easier!!!
Encourage a bond with keyworker, reassure that she'll have fun and that you will always be back to collect her......nice treat upon pick up etc!!!
