Should I find a nursery that 'feeds' to the school I want?

DS is 13 months and we're thinking of placing him in a nursery 2 mornings a week. Should I try and find the nursery that 'feeds' older children to the school I would like him to go to when he's older or does that not really matter? Do kids normally just make new friends when they go from nursery to school anyway?Sorry if this is a naive question!

Depends what is on offer in your area but tbh it is unlikely you will find a "feeder" to take him just yet as at his present age you will probably be looking for a daycare environment. A "feeder" nursery/preschool tends to start much older anyway but may still not be linked to one specific school. He needs a nurturing environment for at least the next year or so and you may then have to consider whether to move him at 2 1/2-3 . dd went to a school where she knew noone, whereas the majority had been at the nursery class and settled in well relatively quickly.

most day care nurseries don't really "feed" into a school becasue the children might live all over the place - the nursery could be near their parents' work rather than where they live.

My DS1 has just started in Reception ans he was the only one from his nursery class there but he seems to have settled in fine.

Go on your instincts and what is best for your DS now and think about it again when he goes to pre school

I'm not sure it will guarantee you a place anyway. In our primary school, a place in the nursery class doesn't mean you get a place in reception (you reapply)

THanks everyone, I think I'll just go with the nursery that I like the most then
