DS biting at nursery - how can I stop him?

Hi, I would be v gratful for any help here. My DS is 19 mths old and goes to nursery 3 days a week. Recently he has strated pushing other children and has bitten one playmate, i say no and make him say sorry 9 not that he can say sorry yet! but he gives his victim a cuddle) when I picked him up the other day from nursery they said he had bitten two children ! I was mortified. He didnt have a sleep thayt day so he may have been tired but still - two! What can I do to stop him becoming a muncher of other children!¬ Please help

Not sure you can stop him, seeing that you are not at nursery with him. Has the nursery told you of their policy regarding children who bite? Not having sleep probably didn't help, also he may be hungry (I care for a 2 year old who will try to bite me on occasion, and when that starts, I give hin a carrot stick to munch on!).

What sanctions have the nursery tried? Do they have sufficient staff to keep a closer eye on him, so that situations can be identified in which he is likely to bite.

the nursery say they say a firm NO and move him away from the child. I am very happy with the nursery otherwise and I think the staff are great, but want to be able to help ds develop good social skills alongside them.
