Nurseries in Epsom

Can anyone recommend a nursery in Epsom? I've been to visit Treetops and whilst I thought that it had a good feel, some of the rooms were tiny.

I work in Epsom Town centre and would like a nursery within walking distance of the town. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Hi, there is a new one opened at the end of the high street (majestic / staples side of town). I have not visited it but seen it as I have driven past.
How old is your LO btw. Some schools do pre school from 2+ (I know epsom primary school do).

Thanks Cookie my DC will be around 12months old when she attends the nursery.

I don't know much about Fennies nurseries.

Apple Tree, Cherry Field, Asquit, Nestots, Teddies and there is Bambini-very popular for Japanese natives, or if you are interested in teaching your child Japanese at such an early age. There are a few more nurseries nearby. Good luck.

Hello,
We are moving to Epsom at the end of this month. I have my children booked into Fennies Nursery which opened just before Christmas, does anyone have any experience of this nursery or Fennies in general?! We have a 3yr old and a 1yr old. Want to make sure I have made the right choice, or I will keep searching! We are on the waiting list for lots of others, but the ones that did have spaces had very small baby rooms.
Also if anyone knows any nice relaxed playgroups they could recommend that would be great!

Hi - we're also planning a move to Epsom in the summer and have a 3 and 1 year old to find nursery places for. New2Epsom - did you find somewhere you are happy with?!

Hello,
We have managed to get the kids into Fennies nursery which opened in Epsom in December. Only the 2nd week for us so far so can't give you too much useful info, but it's in a Central location and has really nice garden and facilities. It is disorganised in terms of admin etc but because it's new I'm not worrying too much about it! Staff seem nice and kids are happy! Getting busier too so best to look round soon as most of the good nurseries were full until Sep 2016!! There is another nursery opening called lynton house, apparently looks nice am planning a visit just to be sure it's not better than fennies, altho I think staff are often key to along the nurseries great! All the best with your search and keep in touch, always up for meeting in the park/ play dates to keep us and the little ones occupied!

Sorry might be a bit late on this feed but I've been to see four of Epsoms nurseries this week, including the new one Lynton House. Must admit it is a stunning nursery and had a lovely homely feel to it unlike some of the others. we filled out the enrolment details there and then

I'd love to hear people's feed back on Fennies and Lynton House. I'm about to enrol my 2.5 year old with Fennies but going to see Lynton House tomorrow as I've heard good things about it (although it's a bit more expensive that other Epsom Nurseries). We are also on the waiting list for Treetops and Apple Tree!
Any more information on Fennies or Lynton House would be appreciated! TIA!

I have to say that Fennies has been a bit of a disappointment, especially so in the baby room, although the Pre-school room has been ok for my 3yr old. The biggest problem is that because they are new, new staff etc they don't seem to have been organised enough to get the kids out in the day. They go out into the nice garden, but so far no trips outside of the nursery itself, not even to the local park. I would push Fennies and Lynton house on this and ask what they have planned for the first few months. It maybe that Lynton being new would have similar issues with staffing ratios etc (this is the issue at Fennies i think from what I have been told). Hope this is of some help. Regards food and staff they are all really nice so no worries there, and the pre-school room have been great making my toddler feel welcome.

Myself and my partner saw four of the nurseries a few weeks ago now. Plus I know a couple of other parents from groups who are seeing nurseries as well.

We have registered our D at Lynton House mainly because we got 'that feel' from it when we arrived. We were greeted by all the staff in each room and our D was happy to go off and explore. I do understand about the price though, it is a bit more expensive but you can see what money is spent on.

New2Epsom - you have a good point about going out on trips. I never thought about it until I read it. If it helps any other parents, I found out about Lynton from the staff whilst they were out with the children at Bourne Hall ponds where I got talking to a member of staff. Also when I visited Lynton the older children were out on a walk to Sainsbury's to buy something for the afternoon.

I'm looking at moving to the area and interested to know any recent experience on Lynton and Fennies - in particular to understand if Fennies do a 730-630 day at all (they say it is usually 745-6 but can vary per nursery so would be good to get an inside view on if it happens).

Hi, i haven't seen lynton but def would not recommend fennies! They seem to be incredibly disorganised and I took my daughter out. How old are your children?! My boy is still in pre school there and he really likes it, I have had no problems with that room...!

Thanks New2Epsom - by disorganised, do you mean on the admin front - billing etc, or do you mean in terms of structuring activities and day plans?

Ours are 18mths and 3.5 yrs, so we'd avoid the babyroom, but it doesn't bode well if they can't get that room right....

On the way into Lynton this morning I bumped into a couple who had taken their twins out of Fennies and moved to Lynton...

yes in terms of admin, staffing mostly, getting the kids out, my little one didn't go outside at all one day despite it being lovely outside (and not too hot)…generally this was an issue for me. My son hasn't been on a trip outside of the nursery yet either. Some parents aren't so worried about this.
I don't want to sound too negative, i do think they are making an effort to get on track again, the manager is fairly new and is making changes so i think it won't be a long term problem.A new baby room manager is starting soon so it will be better (she is moving from pre-school). From the comments above it sounds like Lynton is great but i am sure they all have their pros and cons.
The reason my son is still there is because he has made some great friends there, they all play really nicely and it is lovely to see.

of course every nursery has their pros and cons, what works well for one might not work for another, to me it was about getting that feel of a place and somewhere where I wouldn't mind spending some time at

to me its all about the staff, I think you can tell a lot from a nursery from the way the staff are around parents, at Lynton I have noticed that staff
actually talk to me and I can have a bit of a chat and laugh with them, which after a long day sitting in a car is a welcome break

Bit late seeing this thread but Treetops Epsom is fantastic. Can not fault the nursery at all. My child has been there for nearly a year and I can not praise them enough. Regular trips out, parent play sessions for me to meet other mums and the team are so friendly it definitely puts my mind at ease. They are extending on some of their older rooms at the moment meaning my friends have now got their spaces too after being on the waiting list so don't lose hope! Best one I saw in epsom and I couldn't be any happier with my decision!

Have been meaning to post an update - we ended up choosing Lynton and it's been fantastic. The kids both couldn't have settled in better and are really enjoying it there. The staff are great and the facilities excellent.

Beware Fennies have just increased their Fees by 26% and will not give any reasons for the large increase.

Hi - I know this is a really old thread, but just wondering if there are any more current views on Epsom nurseries? We're looking at the moment in readiness for a baby to start next September, and slightly overwhelmed by the choice!

Hi, We looked around a few earlier this year for our DS (now 16 months) and liked Treetops the best. From talking to others I get the impression that Treetops is still currently a very popular choice. Fennies was a nice building but we were put off by how empty it was and wondered why it had so much capacity. In the end we decided to enrol DS in Teddies for ease of location to our home for drop off and pick up. I also liked the fact that the baby room has a separate sleep room with cots instead of just mats on the floor. DS settled in well (he was 12 months when he joined) enjoys it, and we haven't had any problems. He currently goes 2 days a week and will move to FT next month.
