I have recently started working at a nursery, all is good, I only have one question that I can't find the answer to in the statutory framework. Do you have to have 2 members is staff always available? Breaks are a bit of an issue, as my supervisor says there has to be a minimum of 2 staff, even if we are down to 2 children, is that right?

That's not a statutory requirement but is considered good safeguarding practice to protect you from false allegations
In their safeguarding policy some nurseries stat that no member of staff will ever be alone with a child

We almost always have two staff there even if there are 3 or less children there.

We obviously have more staff when we have more children, and keep up with the correct ratios Grin
