Nursery fees in London for under 3's

Hi ya, Just enquired in my local nursery which looks really nice and was told there are no places available until 2008!!! Can you believe this? So women are booking in their child as soon as they know they are pregnant or planning for a child! I am so shocked.

Anyway, I wondered if £177 per week for a full time place in SE London for under 3s is quite good or if that is too expensive,
Thank you.

That's really cheap, at least compared to East London rates - a lot of nurseries around here are at about £50/day, at least for under-2s.

I'm paying £73 a day in West London!! Can't afford a second baby....

Thanks! I really don't understand young families get on. I will have to go back to work full time so we can have enough money to survive on, oh well, I guess that's London hey? an absolute rip off but I love it here and I don't think I could live elsewhere!

I pay £880 a month for my 2 yr old in East London, so £177 a weeks sounds pretty good. My second choice nursery was £1300 a month. There are a few around me that are subsidised by Tower Hamlets and are about £25 a day, but they do have longish waiting lists.

we paid about £950 a month for a baby and a 4 yr old, 3 days a week. we're in north London.

I pay £54 per day for a 10 month old. I am in SW London. The cheapest I found was £46 per day. I found a childminder who was £44 per day (I think)

i'm moving to London
i live in preston lancs (north west)
i'm a childminder and charge £3 per hour or £20 per day
nursery places are about £22 per day

£230 per week for under-2's £185 per week for over 2's at the nursery we used to use. (West London)
Childminders are £4 or £5 per hour so £40 or £50 per day (about the same as nursery) and there are very few with vacancies at any time.
All the nurseries round here have long waiting lists (which you generally have to pay £30 to join).

We have a nanny who we share with another family now, and it's a lot cheaper.
