Hi my son is 3 in January and I'm thinking about nurseries! Thinking of Agincourt nursery in Monmouth. But its a half hour ride their and back every day. Can anyone tell me whether it's a good nursery. I've read recent estyn reports but not really impressed given that it's a private nursery! Please help alternatively thinking of sending him to state nursery and then straight to the prep school Grange in Monmouth. Any thoughts please?

Have you looked around? I think the best way to tell is to get a feel for the place and wether it suits your child.
All except one person I know who have children there are thrilled with it. The one who isn't so happy finds it's too academic for their son.

Open day on Saturday went in a big group had to see all the other 3 schools too by the time I went they closed! Arranging a private appointment soon. One thing I wasn't impressed by was how close it was to the motorway! Little things like this make an impression, but I'm willing to overlook this if I get a good vibe about the school and whether my son will prosper there rather than a state nursery?

I don't think an open day is ever really a true impression of a school, everyone is on best behaviour, you are probably better off with a private viewing.
It being so close to the Dual Carriageway is a bit of a pain but I wouldn't personally find it a deal breaker.
I was under the impression there was quite a long waiting list, have you checked this? It may help make your decision!

Oh dear really, well I will take a trip in the next couple of weeks for sure, wasn't sure there was a waiting list! That's not good :/ well I guess you are right if there's a waiting list then there's nothing I can do about this. I will go and try for sure. So many opinions out there about private / state that I'm really not sure what to do. Finances will be a stretch sending him to private but I'm willing to make sacrifices if I know my son will benefit...

And with the choices around my area not being favourable especially since im not in any of the catchment areas for the 'better' state schools then private seems the only way to go.....

It is a hard decision! I am hoping to send my boys to Monmouth Boys at 11. Hoping they will do well in the state sector until then
