Am moving up to glasgow soon and am thinking of living in the giffnock area. Can only find one nursery which could take both my children but need to let them know this week and pay a disposit if I want the place. Just wondered if anyone knew of any good/bad points about it or had any other comments on child care provision in that area.

Many thanks

Sorry I haven't seen this message earlier. I am originally from this area (Clarkston) and this nursery has been in business for a good few years. I have never heard of any bad reports and as it is a very posh (!) area I am sure you will not find any problems. Not that nursery care standard is any different in less affluent areas but knowing the type of people that live in surrounding areas, I am sure they will only expect the highest standard of care. I hope I have put my point across without sounding like a snob!?! Have you tried other areas, Burnside, Langside, Newton Mearns, Clarkston?

Thanks for this. Have contacted loads of nurseries in the area. Was a bit concerned as there are 200 places which seems a lot. Also the care commision report was awful but then it was two years old so may have changed.

Busby is nice Rhumba - best Secondary School in Glasgow (WIlliamwood) is in the catchment area.
Can't give you any first hand experience though. Soz!
East Renfrewshire council (where Busby is) is seen as the best in Scotland and was inspected by HMI as that.

Hello Rhumba

Unfortunate you cannot visit because you will know yourself when you see the place and talk to the staff. But I am sure you will be okay.
Giffnock is a lovely area. I live in South Lanarkshire now & I would be back in my home town asap if only I could persuade hubby!

Best of Luck and hope you are happy in your new home.
