nappy changes in nursery

Dd is in nursery all day, 8 till 5. Typically there are three-four nappy changes on her log, although often one may be dry. Yesterday she only had two changes logged, at 9am and 3pm, which means 6 hours in one nappy. Again, today she has only hadtwo changes, at 10am and 3pm.
I don't think this is enough, but was wondering what others opinion is? If this continued would you bring it up? Dd is 20 months

That's a long time without a change, are they very short staffed?

I would deffo bring it up! 2 in 6 hours is not enough! I don't think I would feel comfortable with that...they may not be very wet but he should be getting refreshed more often :-)

That's not right - IMO. Changes are every 3hrs at our nursery unless a poo or leaky then it's just sorted out as required.

Is she perhaps asleep for one of the scheduled changes?
Has she moved rooms recently?

Thanks for your replies. I am definitely going to mention it on Monday. Insancerre -She naps at the routine nap time, and she hasn't changed rooms. However, there has been quite a bit of staff change over of late. Tbh it doesn't't fill me with confidence.

Did they do it but not write it down, maybe?

My dd is 20 months and sometimes at home when we're busy she will go 6hrs. A toddler doesn't need 3hourly nappy changes!! U don't change her 3 hourly over night do u? X

I agree. My 15 mth old sometimes only has 4 nappies in whole day. They really don't need 3 hourly changes. You can feel/ see when nappies full and smell when nappies dirty. Maybe they are finding he doesn't need changing at the set times. Nappies are so good these days! If your child's not sore I really wouldn't worry about it.

My boy is changed every two hours at nursery plus if hes gone inbetween.sometimes the ladies have forgot to write it though cos theyre busy obv lol

Gosh, every 2 hours! I don't change DS every 2 hours. Also, if your DC sleeps through the night, that's one nappy for ~10 hours or so. Which is fine presumably?

I change him at home around every three hours but i like that they do it every two there because i know that hes being checked and i know he isnt going to just be left all uncomfortable

Ah, okay. I think it would be obvious from a sore bottom if a poo was left for any length of time though.

Landfill!! I'm assuming these are disposables. Seriously, if your child is being changed every two hours without needing to be, that's an incredibly pointless waste of nappies! As someone has pointed out, you don't get up every two or three hours in the night to change them, if they're sleeping through then that's a lot longer than 6 hours in the same nappy. I'd be happy with two changes between 8 and 5 as long as the nappy was changed when it was soiled.

I dont make the policies at nursery obv they arent going to put a new one on if its dry they arent going to waste our nappies its the point that they CHECK.just because we dont pointlessly wake them through the night doesnt mean they shouldnt be kept fresh in the day as much as possible when theyre activr

About 4 changes a day here unless an extra pop!

Usually:
8am - wakes up
12.30pm- before nap
3pm- after nap
7.30pm- before bed

Basically at the most convinent times unless recently changed

3 scheduled changes here, plus any poo smell as extras. Often the last one.doesn't get written in dd's book and the handover worker has to check the chart above the change table for.exact time and contents.

Washable nappies.during the day so less landfill. Checking each child to ensure not damp etc every 2 hours is good, but not if that means opening and wasting clean nappies.

Agree that at that age nappies don't need to be changed so frequent. Today for example, dd had nappy changed on waking at 8.30am then again after her nap at 2.30pm and that will do her till after dinner and bath.
Obv I would change her when pood or if she seemed very wet, but its often not needed.
If she is in reusables then I changed her more as they tend to be more damp on her skin, but disposables keep them drier
