Hi,

At the beginning of the year I started a part time HNC in Early Education & Childcare after being made redundant 2yrs ago. I'm enjoying the course and was hoping to get into a local authority nursery when I finish in November next year. I live in Glasgow. However I'm becoming increasingly worried by all the stories I'm hearing about the lack of jobs and also terrible pay ! Now I know it's not a well paid job as such but does anyone have any links to a site where I could find out more about the actual salary structure. Also, am I wasting my time as I'll have a snow ball's chance in hell of getting into a council nursery ?

Thanks in advance
x

Sorry I'm in south east England. Here jobs are still available, but the wages are poor. We only have 2 council run nurseries in our borough.

Have you called the local settings to see what they think, where they advertise?

I would ring round your local and not so local nurseries, and get your cv and name in there!! Even if there is no job available at the time, they may call you for an interview when one is available.
