moving from cot to cotbed at nursery

DS is 12months and started nursery 3 months ago. He is very happy there, although he stil sometimesl cries when I drop him off. On days he cries he often wakes up in the middle of the night upset.
His key worker at nursery said today they have 4 new babies coming in and my DS is the most ready to move to a cot bed. (Foldy mini hammock type thing about 2inches from floor). Im a bit worried as DS is very bad/wiggly sleeper, and I feel a bit like he's being shoved onto a crappy bed before he's ready just because no one planned when they let too many babies in.
My main concern is that the move will upset him more as it gives him the security he needs in the
cot. I think it makes more sense to waif a few weeks until he stops crying when I drop him off.
I was wondering what ages other mumsnetters DD's;DS's moved?
TIA

My DD was moved onto the stretcher at about 1yr. I was surprised as at home she's a little traveller when asleep but by all accounts she has always been fine. Her key worker once mentioned having to catch her as she was rolling in her sleep but it sounded like a one off.

Maybe your DS will be like my DD and do things happily at nursery that I struggle to get her to do at home for many months after she's mastered them there!

I'd let them try it and see how he gets on but if you're worried ask them to roll up some towels or blankets along the sides so he feels more cosied in.

Thanks for your advice, 12months seems okay then.
