DD is 12months and started nursery last week, only two days a week so still very early days yet. She seems to really like her key worker but they said she was quite fretful, on and off all day. I think part of the problem is she's not sleeping well there so she's tired. She eats everything they give her so I'm assuming she's not too distressed, just wondered how long it takes for them to get used to it.

Hi

It took my DD a few weeks to get used to it to the point we would go in and put her on the carpet and she wouldn't even look back once we went. Occassionally she becomes fretful and clingy usually after/during an illness and it takes a couple of weeks to restore back to normal.

She will get used to sleeping but in my experience they never sleep anywhere near as well as they do in their own surroundings, therefore on her nursery days we move the nightime routine forward by an hour and this seems to work better with her.

It'll take a while for her her to get used to it and for the keyworkers to get used to her but they will eventually, to the point when I went to collect my DD last week she reached for her keyworker instead of me! I didn't take it personally!

DD is 19 months and has been going to nursery for about 10 months.

Good luck!

It took my DS about 2-3 months to be properly settled in and it became normal for him to go, not that he was particularly unhappy. He was only 7 months when he started though. Until recently he slept much better at nursery (peer pressure as now he's in the toddler room and they sleep on little mats).
He's currently infor 3 days and on the first day he is very tired when he gets home so we chill and have early bed too. After that day he's fine.
