Is there a nursery equivalent of the 'Good Schools Guide'?

I was just reading the thread about the terrible things happening at that nursery in W5.

Got me thinking that there ought to be some sort of guide that day nurseries can only get into if they are of a certain standard and to give parents some 'idependent' information about what a nursery is actually like. I think on the GSG it is also possible for parents to write reviews of schools based on their experience.

Does that already exist for nurseries? Maybe it should (who needs a new business venture??).

This site was launched recently, but fairly useless as there are very few available reviews. www.goodcareguide.co.uk/

Out of the hundred places near me, only 2 had any ratings. One of the reviews sounded like a member of staff had written it. Most of the reviews are going to be written by either paid happy staff, pissed off ex-staff or pissed off parents.

There should be a system where each setting is inspected and given a grade by a team of independent professionals. In other words, if only Ofsted were trustworthy...
