Yet another bug from nursery...how long will this last?

I started my 10mo son at nursery in January on Thursdays and Fridays. The first week he was there, he caught gastroenteritis, so was off the next week and the week after with that. First week back after his bug, he has come down with something else-being sick yesterday, and a temperature (plus a very gurgly tummy so I have a feeling I have some diarrhoea to look forward to, too!)
I know kiddies are susceptible to bugs when they first start at nursery, but I was wondering how long it will take for his immune system to build up-I can't take many more days off work, plus I'm paying a hell of a lot for a nursery he's not using at the moment! Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks!

It depends on the baby. Mine started at 7mo, and I think the illness thing lasted about 1.5-2 months. But there's only a serious one (bronchiolitis) from her first week. Then it's just minor temperature. But being PFB, I took her out with instead of just giving her nurofen/calpol and sending her back. (Which i got the advice from MN that's what poor neglected seconds get. Grin).

It takes a few months! I used to work Tuesday's and Wednesday's. I would find dd would be fine at nursery, ill on Thursday and Friday, I would get it Saturday and Sunday, then we would have Monday and start all over again on Tuesday!

If it is any consolation dd is now 10 and rarely off school!

Hello

I found with my LO that he was picking up bugs and any other illness going round the nursery for the first 3 months. It gradually got better- it was very hard for the first few months going back to work!!
