recommendations for nurseries in Herne Hill / Brixton area

Day 2 of maternity leave and I've started looking for a nursery for next year. Does anyone have any recommendations? The only ones I've heard good things about are Rosendale (which I'm told is impossible to get a place at) and Effra (which doesn't take one year olds). The info provided by Lambeth council has so far been a bit useless - they sent me a list of providers but there seem to be hardly any in our area so either it's incomplete or we're living in a nursery blackhole.
Suggestions appreciated.

Have you thought about going down the childminder route?

There does seem to be a shortage of nursery places in Lambeth and waiting lists are in place.

Childminders can be more flexible and if you phone Lambeth childcare services I'm sure they could give you some advice.

Hello! good luck in your search, it can be so stressful. My DD goes to Lambeth Day Nursery (Asquith Group) and I only have good things to say about it. It is a bit far from where I live, but they were the only ones with the hours and days I needed, and I liked very much all the space they have and the very warm and friendly women that look after my DD. She stettled in perfectly in less than two weeks and is now very happy to stay. If you need more information I will be happy to send you a message. It's not far at all from Brixton.
