Yes primary, eldest you may be able to put name down for state nursery, not quite sure. Check your LEA's website.

I mean yes, it's too early!

Round here you can put there name down from when they are born. DD (15/05/2005) has her name down. Its mainly because I did it when I remembered - it's highly likely she'll get in because we live a stone's throw away and DS is already a pupil.

Kerry just pop into your local school and ask them about admission's policy.

When I registered both children I got a receipt though. DD's is in the school file. But agree, there is no rush.

Round here you don't put their name down at the school you fill in an lea form the september before they would start and then you find out in the march if they have a place or not.

my ds is due to start school in september and i found out in october last year that from sept 2006 intake you have to apply by sept 30th the previous year to the lea and they allocate the places. saves people making multiple applications incase they dont get their first choice. had massive panic as was 2 weeks after the deadline but luckily found out just before xmas he got into the c of e va school as they still make their own decision but it is coordinated by the lea. Was told this is now national policy but might be wrong. be careful if your children dont go to state nursery as was told should have known as all nurserys were sent info and was in local paper! my ds goes to private nursery and i dont read the local rag.anyway alls well that ends well

You can let them the primary school know which year your child will be starting in, but nothing will be done until the year before. There is a form you will need to fill in (PA1?) which has to be handed in to the school in about the January (at least that's how it's done in this area. There is also no guarantee of places at this stage - you cannot "reserve" one. It will depend on their catchment and intake policy on siblings/special needs etc.

That said, I will be letting my local school know shortly (dd born in 2004) so that they will have a better picture of their possible intake numbers for that year.
