Insurance questions

Can anyone help answer these questions?

  1. What sort of insurance do nurseries have to have?
  2. Do they have to display it/make the information available to parents?
  3. Do they have to give the local authority proof of their insurance cover annually?
  4. Can the local authority disclose that information to parents?

A colleague has been having issues with their nursery and it has made me think about things I had previously taken for granted.

all nurseries are required to have insurance and display the certificate, Ofsted check this when they visit. she should be able to just ask and they should point her to where it is.

Yup, it HAS to be displayed somewhere. If it isn't, DODGY NURSERY WARNING!
