Hi, can anyone recommend a nursery for an 8 month old in the Northcote Road / Nightingale Triangle area and environs? I am a new mum and dont know where to put my db when I go back to work when he is about 8 or 9 months old. Any feedback (good, bad, indifferent ...)about nurseries in the area would be most gratefully received. Thanks!

I don't know of any in your area, but I was astonished at the difficulty in finding a place when we were in South London. Go and visit as many as you can as gut feel will count for a lot.

I would start by getting a list of all those in the area - the scrum for places in London is incredible with waiting lists of up to a year in some cases.

Sorry I can't help with specifics.

where have you seen so far?

I've got various lists of nurseries/creches from the local councils (Lambeth and Wandsworth) but havent physically been to visit any of them yet. I'm also considering a shared minder, say of 6 other babies, but its early days yet - again, I haven't actually contacted anyone yet, so any pointers in the right direction would be a huge help. Thanks

i recommend elm park nursery, 90 clarence ave, sw4, tel 8678 1990. ds and dd have been very happy there. it is more clapham south than northcote rd but perhaps doable.

Thanks Kate - its quite close to me actually. I was planning to go around and visit to see whether I liked it or not. Its good to hear that you are happy with it.

firstimemum - if you are interested in looking at minders, srtart now - minders can only take one baby under a year old, so places are v short!
