Term time attendance only

I am looking for a nursery placement for my son. His nanny was doing childcare but she has terminal cancer and cant continue. Money is very tight. I am a ft teacher and only want term time attendance for my son. Do nurseries do this? Could I negotiate with them on this issue?

My DS has attended a nursery/preschool from the age of 2.5 which does offer termtime only, but it wasn't mentioned in any of the literature. I only found out when I carried on taking him during school hols and half the class was missing, I mentioned to the teacher that a lot must be on holiday and she said they were termtimers only. Blush

My CM does term time only, that might be more common esp if they have their own school aged children.

My dd has just started nursery and every one we looked around offered term time only contracts, I'm a teacher too. The one that we went with allows them to still attend in the holidays for half of their usual hours. Dd goes twice a week so in the holidays she just goes once a week which I find great as it means she is still used to going and I get time to do some planning or whatever.

Thanks for the replies. I have emailed some nurseries/childminders enquiring about their term time only rates. Hopefully it may reduce the cost for me!

I work in a private day nursery and we can do term time only. It's not advertised in the literature but we have loads of techersa that do term-time only. We run a holiday club in the holidays so we cover the places that way.

No, the way we work it, you pay for what you use. So if the child is full-time then the full-time rate is charged, reducing to zero or part-time depending on how many hours the child attends that month. The manager works out everybody's bill for the coming month (she has computer software that works it out) and parents pay vouchers or cash/card. We don't have many that pay direct debit or standing order.
The parents actually get a very good deal as we don't charge a retainer. The nursery picks up the slack.
