hi mums out there two questions
1)

Just wanted to know would we qualify for the free nursery place... dh is a higher rate tax payer and ds due to start nursery in nov (he'll be 3 in January) i have to get some part time work as things are tight? either way he'll go

  1. The nursery is private as no spaces in the 4 state ones we applied to although his name is down. If its private does that mean he cannot access the scheme as we have the money to pay so we would not be seen as needing it if that makes sense

sorry don't want to appear greedy just curious

sorry typing using one hand holding 3 month old

any ides would be gretly appreciated

It depends whether the nursery meets the criteria set by the Locla Authority for Early Years funding - you need to ask them or LA. EY funding isn't means tested but your ds won't qualify for it until April 2012.

Early years funding (3 year old funding) is open to any child the term after they turn 3 doesnt matter if you win the lottery you are elidgeable however just because you are elidgeable does not mean you can find a space in the setting you want and he wont qualify untill April 2012 and it is very hard to find a space that late in the year unless you already have one in a nursery before that as spaces generally fill up in september

So if you do want him to attend nursery before April you will have to pay for it yourself at the rate the nursery charge as it sounds like you would not qualify for 2 year old funding which is means tested and dependant on a lot of things

oh thank you for replying. i see what you mean, the nursery he is enrolled for is on our borough list I suppose I did not realise that anyone regardless of earnings in theory can still qualify depending on as you say if the nursery is registered which I find out is so he should get something from next year which will be a massive help.
