Hello

I have a 9mth old and will possibly be returning to work in April.

Has anyone got any suggestions for good nurseries in the N16 Stoke Newington or Stamford Hill Areas?

I like the look of:

  • Mini Home (at the Yoga Home building)
  • Phoenix Montessori on Stamford Hill
Does anyone have experience of these nurseries?

Any info much appreciated Smile

Coconut on Church Street is meant to be very good. I've no direct experience but know of people who's children are very happy there.

I have a friend whose DC went to Little Coconuts or whatever it's called and loved it. I think Mini Home is meant to be good too. I'd get your skates on though. I remember hearing about year long waiting lists round there.

Have you checked out the Ofsted reports for the ones you're interested in?

Thank you for your replies Lucy and Rosa. I will see if I can get an appointment to visit Coconut and Mini Home.

I fear I have left things a little late, as you are not the first to mention long waiting lists, Yikes!

I have looked at the Ofsted reports but its always nice to get feed back from parents.

Thanks againSmile

Don't bother going to see Coconut if you need a place by April! I rang them last year in the summer, was given a date to visit in January 2011, and only once you visit can you get your name on the waiting list - which I was told takes about 9 months to get to the top!

You could also try Rainbow on Nevill Road, it's a nice, mixed and friendly place. Completely new building and nice outside bits, lovely home cooked food, lots of outings throughout the year, friendly staff, kids are happy.

Yes, I've heard really good things about Rainbow too. Forgot to mention that in my first post.

Thank you for the advice TwinkleToes and LucyLookOut, you are right about Coconut I have had no responses to my emails or phone calls so I am guessing they are pretty full!

I will give Rainbow a go.

Hiya,
My son went to Minihome for 2 years and it is great. It's not cheap though but fantastic. he only left cos we moved away from the area. You might be lucky and get a space, call them you never know. Oh and btw they are not very good at getting back to you but don't take it personally. If you get in there they are fantastic at childcare.
My son's new place is nowhere near as good :-(
Forget about Coconut. I applied whjile I was pregnant - no chance!
