Hi, first time here & hope someone can help!! 30 month old DD is v bright and great but full on. Currently driving 30 mins across town to Montessori toddler group in Morningside but drive is v stressful and long and I can't see me doing that for another three years til she starts school. Finally accepted we are unlikely to move to that side of town so we are looking at her going to Holy Cross, Trinity or perhaps Edinburgh Academy. What I really need is a good, friendly not manic or dirty nursery for her to go to in the mornings until August, because I have depression and anxiety which are kicking my butt just now. Long and boring story.

Visited totally awful place today and now I am thinking that starting a new Montessori part-time nursery locally would be the ideal solution. However, I'm not qualified... Gah!!!!!!
Any helpful thoughts? Thank you :-)

It will be very difficult to run your own educare setting if you have no knowledge or experience of child development or management!

You might have common sense and a sense of awareness of what is quality but to actually run a nursery especially Montessori which is specialised and a little out of favour with early years teams (local councils advisory bodies.

However there are good nurseries out there and if you employed a very good (thats subjective) Manager who could run to the EYFS standards in your area I am sure it would be very popular!
Good luck x

Did you ever find a nursery? I think to open your own nursery does need experience and good staff. If you want to go the Montessori way, get training. My one experience with a Montessori trained teacher had me asking if she'd actually had any experience with children as she didn't have a clue.
