Identifying parents

My DD has just started nursery, it's her 2nd week. My DH went to pick her up today and they wouldn't let him in, but then eventually did and escorted him to her room. This isn't a problem except that he didn't have to say a word when he buzzed at the door last week. I am very surprised that they haven't asked for photos of either of us, is this normal for nurseries? On one hand they seem very strict about who they are letting in, and then another day they don't seem to care.

My friends nursery used to have a password system.

I'm a childminder and I ask a new parent (where I have only met the partner) to show their driving license

We ahd the password system at the Montessori, but before that the playschool used to ask for photos of everyone. They never got them (Mum doesn't do phtotos) and they still let us pick them up, tho I suspect if it had been someone they hadn't met before / had warning of? I hope so anyway.

DD's nursery has password protected doors - one on main door to building and another on door to actual nursery (which is upstairs). We were given the key to the downstairs door after being their a month; key to second door after a term. DD also has a password we know if someone else has to collect her. And when we joined I had to give the names of anyone who might have to collect her - name, address, tel number, relationship - so they could check. If anyone other than me or DH collects her (never had to do this yet) we are supposed to tell them beforehand. If notthey will phone me or DH before DD can go home.
