DS's new winter coat gone missing

As the title suggests, DS's new winter coat has gone missing from nursery.

He had it for one day.

I didn't buy it, ex did, however I have asked nursery if they have found it.

Its been gone over a week now.
What should I do, or do I just accept this is the risk and dress my child in second hand clothes (he usually is and first shiny new item he wears has gone walkies).

He has other clothes to wear but I wouldn't be able to buy a new one if his other winter coat went missing.

Has it got his name in?

DS occassionally comes home from nursery in other children's clothing and if they don't have a name on, then they are very difficult to identify and trace the owner.

It could be that whoever has got it, intends to give it back, but has not been at nursery for what ever reason.

This happens in my DS nursery occasionally. I took in a pair of brand new slippers for him and they walked off the same week.

No Sad

No name in it.

I always return all the random bits that come back to me to the nursery, other children's babygrows and pants!

Get used to it Sad as it happens until they become old enough to keep track of their own clothes - roughly the same age at which they start BUYING their own sodding clothes!

Can you post up a notice in the cloakroom? We get problems with nannies (and the odd mum too) shoving any old coat and uniform into a bad and taking it home. Sometimes it is weeks before something works its way back through the system.

Ask them to put a note up in the cloakroom area.

oh dear :(

I'm afraid I've got used to sending DS in crappy second hand stuff, or things that I don't mind going missing, so he's got a lovely winter coat for home and a crappy brown second hand one for nursery.
