Remind me about adult staff ratios & qualifications

I am having a dim moment

Is it half of all staff must have a level 2 or half of all on duty?

Plus if you have 5 on duty is half 2 or 3?

Plus if they are studying for level 3 do they count as qualified or not?

(please be aware I am not doing any of this yet - I am just planning atm)

Many thanks

"In registered settings other than childminding settings, all supervisors and managers must hold a full and relevant level 3 qualification (as defined by the Children?s Workforce Development Council(CWDC)) and half of all other staff must hold a full and relevant level 2 qualification (as defined by CWDC)."

So that does not answer the question. I would say that it should be half of all who are at that time working with the children - so those who are on duty.

Can't cut people in half... so would need to round up to whole number.

"Staff/volunteers/students under the age of 17 cannot count towards the ratio and should be supervised at all times. Individuals aged 17 and over who are on long-term placements may be included in the ratios if the provider is satisfied they are competent and responsible."

So if they are studying towards level 3, they are only qualified to whatever level have actually obtained. They can be included in ratio, if age 17+ - though as a non-qualified.

That's my understanding of it... could be wrong though.

I found out

Childcare register half on duty
EY register half employed

Round up for half people

& must be finished & have certificate; finished no cert yet doesn't count

It's so omplicated

Childcare register half on duty
EY register half employed

How daft! Why can't they both be the same.

Biscuit

How about as a childminder I can have an assistant collect a childcare child
But as CDP I can't unless she has a level 2
