My partner and I had been looking for about three months for a good nursery and we eventually decided on Regents House Day Nursery. Last Monday I dropped off my little boy and paid them a (large) deposit and cash for the childcare. In the evening I came back to pick him up and a rather distressed woman told me that the nursery had been closed. No you're not missing something, the nursery was open one minute and closed the next... after taking ALL the cash. The staff appeared to have had the same level of warning as the lady I spoke to said it was the first she'd been told and she had worked there for 15 years.
Obviously I'm not happy, primarily as I know have to go back to looking for a nursery but also as the owners must have known that they were running the risk of folding imminently and took the cash off everyone there anyway and did it in such a way as to try and get out the door before anyone could catch them.
So I was hoping to find some other parents or (ex)members of staff who might know who I should be contacting to reclaim the money I have effectively had stolen.
What I know so far is that the company that owned the nursery always given as "Regents House Day Nursery Ltd." Is not a real company, at least that name is not a registered company name and never has been in the UK. This makes it hard to find out who owns the whole enterprise.
Anyway, I'd be grateful if anyone has any advice on what to do about this and at the very least name and shame the company/individuals responsible for such incredibly underhand and money grabbing tactics, they are literally stealing from children of less than a year old after all.
Thanks
