I feel such a fool! I took dd to look round a nursery today, she really enjoyed herself, then when the manager took me off for a chat i cried!!!
I just haven't got my head round leaving her yet. She is 22mths, and quite sociable, and didn't seem to miss me. I worry that i am going to turn in to one of "them" mothers that wont let go!
Tell me i will start acting like a rational human being again soon.

nannyjo · 26/08/2005 22:12

i burst into tears when i left DS in a creche for just one hour, he was having a whale of a time with loads of new toys and play friends but i got upset too.

Didn't you know the first sign after a positive pregnancy test result, is your brain changing into irrational jelly for evermore with no cure known to womankind, we just have to live with it

Freddiecat · 26/08/2005 22:16

fee I think you'd be strange if you didn't cry

fee77 · 26/08/2005 22:16

Oh dear - you better not tell my husband - he thinks it is just a phase!!
I have resorted to alcohol and chocolate to ease the guilt / embaressment / shame (pick and excuse!)
She has two settling in days next week - what on earth can i do, apart from sit in the car sobbing!

It is a phase, motherhood is just a very long phase

mumtosomeone · 26/08/2005 22:18

eat chocolate in the car?!

I'm beginning to panic about DS starting nursery in a couple of weeks. I have thought for months that he is ready for it, now I'm thinking he is my baby and how can I leave him for the whole day? (I'll be working in the same building as his nursery but not in the nursery)

yawningmonster · 26/08/2005 22:32

the first time I left my ds a creche I rang them when I got out the gate and they could obviously see me as they said that it was fine for me to leave the carpark he was having a ball

mumtosomeone · 27/08/2005 07:53

I think I am so lucky not having to do this!
DS is starting playschool in Sept and I can stay and settle him as long as it takes.

noma · 27/08/2005 21:50

My ds starts state nursery sept but 5 sessions seems a lot for a 3 year old could i just send him for 3 afternoon sessions or do you have to have all 5 ?

Tommy · 27/08/2005 22:20

noma - it deoends on the nursery. I was told that my DS would have to do 5 sessions but he's just finished 1 1/2 terms of 2, then 3 mornings. he's going to five this term.

Fee - you're not alone at all! Just one thing though - are you sure you're completely happy with it? I didn't like leaving DS1 at his first pre-school but couldn't put my finger on why. He's at a state nursery school now and I've always been totally happy leaving him - I much prefer it.

No the nursery seems fine, my problem is dd and i have hardly ever been apart! My family live away, and have only left her with inlaws a couple of times. I just need to get my head round it! She seemed happy, and once i start working, i don't think i will have time to feel sorry for myself.

My dd is nearly 3. She had her trial week last week and she loved it. For first couple of days she did not even want to go home. I was glad she liked it so much. She goes wed.,Thur.,Fri. Yesterday she was crying alot when I dropped her off. I called nursery one hr. later and she had settled down but was in tears when I picked her up. Today se did not even wanted to go there at all. She does not want to play with kids and have fun. She was so upset that she made herself sick( she has never done it before) and I had to fetch her up. She was not sick since 9am she only has a litlle cough. She is my only child and I do not know if this behaviour is normal.
