I'm really confused about funding

Im really confused as to when the funding kicks in for 3 year olds, and before i phone anyone looking like a plank i wonderd if any of you lovely mumsnetters could set me straight?

My DS will be 3 in September, we have a DD also who will be 2 in November. We would like them both to start in a daycare/nursery soon, but can only afford to pay for one so are waiting until our DS is free

I know that at a state school nursery he will be funded for 15/12 hours a week the term after his 3rd birthday so that would be January 2011 (please tell me I've got that bit right?) But would this be the same if the funding was used in a daycare nursery as aposed to a school nursery? or would it start on his birthday rather than the term after?

Oh dear, what a ramble!

Any help?

It's the term after they are 3, so in your case it will be January 2011.

If finances are tight, you will need to check that they will do a term time only contract for both children, as some don't and the funding is only for term time
