childcare in Reading area? Bit worried.

My first venture into the world of mumsnet. Here goes:
Do any of you have any recommendations (or warnings against) nurseries in the Reading area? My LO will qualify for funded pre-school care later in the year, but my work hours probably need a nursery that can offer all-day care. I had planned on using a nursery that we've used in the past, which was ideal. It seemed lovely, smaller than some of the big city centre facilities, and the owner was not stuck away in an office but was quite hands-on with the childcare. But since we were last in contact with them, I've heard some unfavourable comments to do with staff turnover, the atmosphere, and quality of care. It might all be hot air, but I think we should look around a bit more before committing. But there are a lot of places to look at. Can anyone help to narrow the search a little?

TIA!

Forbury Nursery is supposed to be very go0d - has outstanding Ofsted, AFAIK. Friend's two kids go there and love it... Very long waiting list for some agegroups though. Good luck!

Forget any nursery graded only satisfactory or less.

I worked cover for a few days at Acorns on the Wokingham road. It seemed lovely. Avoid Happitots.

Great. Thank you for the advice. Forbury might be a good idea (close to the station if I have the right place). I know that Ofsted isn't everything, but I take on board your comments Tiggy. Will look at Acorns. Not one that I have come across, but an 'insider' view is really useful. Thank you both.
