Hi Mumsnet — I'm a mum of two doing a psychology Master's at the University of East London, studying later in life as part of a career pivot, and I'm running my thesis research on how people react to political content they see online. I'm still working to get a properly balanced and large enough sample, and I'd love to reach this community specifically because I know it's more politically mixed than most online spaces.

  • Takes about 10 minutes
  • Fully anonymous
  • UK adults 18+
  • You read a short bit of social media content and answer questions about your reactions
  • You can stop at any point

I started this but you lost me at ‘Please select your gender’. I have a sex, which I am quite happy to state, but do not have a gender.

I also don't have a gender identity and cannot answer that question in an honest way.

Your survey is not in line with the recommendations of the Sullivan review: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/independent-review-of-data-statistics-and-research-on-sex-and-gender The gender question is also not politically neutral. Your supervisor and the ethics committee should have pointed that out.

Currently, you will not be able to analyse any differences between men, women and transpeople. There is very little data on transpeople, so you are not doing them a favour by not identifying them.

The gender question is not politically neutral and you are loosing potential participants due to it.

Independent review of data, statistics and research on sex and gender

An independent review by Professor Alice Sullivan that looks at data, statistics and research on sex and gender.

Thanks, PPs. I also just have a sex so, even though I is old and enjoy filling in questionnaires to alleviate the boredom of my dull, wretched life, I'll pass.

Thanks for pointing out the gender question . It saved me a click
