I don't know what to say but I'm really struggling. I'm a single mum with disabled children- no support.

I'm struggling financially (because I've had to leave my job), struggling emotionally. It's very full on. I'm shattered constantly. I can't keep up with their needs.

I've requested help from social care but was award nothing.

I have some minor health issues which are a problem because I don't always take my meds.

I feel broken. I'm really lonely.

Every bit of my life is falling apart. I'm not doing a good job at anything.

My sleep is awful..

I don't know how to begin to improve life.

So sorry to hear that,
sadly I think it is quite common for disabled families to struggle

can you do anything nice whilst theyre asleep if they are are asleep - play some music on your phone and have cocoa (it will be much better for you than scrolling on your phone)

sometimes I think it’s worth starting with small things that put your self first like always making sure to buy something you like when food shopping and making yourself go outside even if only a 5 minute walk. If you’ve been coming second for years it takes a bit of effort to try and factor something in for yourself but I think you’ll feel better if you try

the other thing is also to apply for DLA and carers allowance -

Sorry I don’t think it’s right for life to be so hard for the disabled by the way - I think it’s terrible that life has become so hard

DryadsRest · Yesterday 01:12

Maybe you’re grieving the life you thought you would have as well as finding things hard for all the reasons you have outlined in your post

Lifeonapigfarm · Yesterday 01:17

Thanks for answering. I already claim DLA.

I don't think I'm grieving life I expected. It's more that day to day life is impossibly hard.

I live on very little sleep. I spend my nights filling in paperwork and writing emails/ sending admin is insane.

It's just too much

it so unfair isn’t it all the forms just to get what is needed. I honestly dont know what to say
even if you applied for a charity grant that would mean more forms

Can you do the forms tucked up in bed. I’ve even heard advice like trying to do even small things for yourself like opening a window and standing by it for a bit. It’s worth trying to find little things for you I promise

DryadsRest · Yesterday 01:27

I’ve got no idea what your situation is but is there anyway you can ‘offload the kids’ for a bit

DryadsRest · Yesterday 01:28

The standing by a window is if you literally can’t leave the house! I’m not completely mad!

DryadsRest · Yesterday 01:36

I’m going to sign off now, but goodnight hope you get some sleep Tonight

@Lifeonapigfarm you must be exhausted, hoping these resources may be able to offer you a little respite or more support. 🌸

Family Fund, Gingerbread, Sense & Contact

Thank you. I really appreciate the replies.

No, there isn't anyone could offload my children to. I worry what would happen if I was admitted to hospital.

I'm just so tired. I need to go and take my son to the toilet now. He's almost bigger than me.

I'll look through those resources.

Hello, I'm so sorry you are struggling Flowers
I would allocate time and stick to it. For example, limit form filling to weekdays only, max 2 hours. Unless you've a deadline to meet you can have a cut off point. At least one hour of something for you, doesn't have to be an hour altogether, you could split it into blocks of time throughout the day. But has to be for something you'd love and would find uplifting. 10 mins outside in a sunny spot with a cuppa and silence, or 10 mins uplifting dance music in your living room. 20 mins power nap.
Make caring for yourself a priority, the theory being that you cannot pour from an empty cup. Talk to your GP about any carers support groups, talk to citizens advice about support and help with the forms. Look for charities in your area that can help with home adaptions or advice.
It really sounds like you need respite and some physical help too, there will come a point when you are unable to lift your children, and it's likely not far off so getting that help now would be a priority I think.
You need to find people to help, they are out there in your local area, you just need to find them. Look to the GP, any community hubs, churches, ask on Facebook groups, ask the council, ask at the library, ask at the citizens advice bureau.
Good luck with it all, don't give up hope Flowers

That sounds really difficult.
Totally understandable that you are shattered. And life is so, so much harder when you're sleep deprived.
Hope you can get some repite from it and get some proper rest sometime soon.
