Hey, i had a private scan today at 28w2d as NHS told me my 20w was my last and i just wanted some reassurance. Now all along i have stated to the NHS hospital that my period i had may not be accurate as i came off the pill a few weeks before hand….

i got a positive test 14th February . The hospital said my EDD is 27th October but numerous times i have raised concerns that i feel like they have it wrong by being a week late ……

Today i went for a private scan for reassurance and was told i am measuring 29w3days …. After she said this i told her about my concerns and she asked if i had had my belly measured and i said no ( tbh i didnt know it was a thing) she told me the hospital shouldve done this by now and that baby is measuring to fit 29w perfectly except head size so it might be the case of a big baby

my question is what one do i trust? The hospital hasnt been very helpful so far in my pregnancy

Nhs dates you on fetal size at 12 week scan. So if you had that then all is well. Midwife with measure you and assess whether you need any additional scans, make sure you attend the appointments

Your due date is set by how baby measures at the 12 week scan, they don’t change it regardless of when you think it is or if baby is measuring bigger/smaller down the line.

The midwife usually measures your bump with a tape, and if they are concerned about it being very high or low centile they will send you for additional scans as reassurance.

You get your dates on your dating scan before or 12 weeks They pretty much develop at the same rate in the first trimester and then grow as they want after.

Does a week difference really matter that much? Baby is going to arrive when it wants anyway.
