Noise coming from ceiling of My Home

Fender697 · 04/09/2021 17:01

I started having problems with noticeable sharp sounds coming from the ceiling area on both floors of My two story House. I paid $500 to a Pest Exterminator. He told Me there was no evidence of pests. I did speak with someone who worked in Heating and air conditioning. He thinks it may be related to that. I was also thinking someone may have some kind of electronic device or maybe even power lines or anything else. What say You?

I am still experiencing noise coming from my ceiling It is sharp sounding and loud at times. Mostly at night and at dawn just before the sun comes up. I had to pay an Exterminator and He insists it is not pests. I am not sure who I should get to figure it out.

Could it be birds?

What kind of sharp sounds? Like bangs or cracks? One noise at a time? Not like thump thump thump. Just one crack or what?

Have you looked at the outside of the building for cracks in the walls? Are there any cracks above doors or in the corners of the walls or across the ceilings? Is there a history of subsidence in the area?

Have you been in the loft yourself? Where is the hatch to the loft, your house or communal stairwell?

Hmmm, does it coincide with heating coming off and on? I'd lay some traps/bait just in case

It began last February. The pest guy did not mention birds. I did see a bunch of little birds in the backyard around that time. Something like sparrows.

We have birds in our loft. They make an awful racket first thing in the morning and in the evening. Watch for birds roosting on your guttering. We watched starlings dart into the roof from our bathroom window. They'd perch on the edge of the guttering for a while, making sure it's safe, before diving under a loose tile.

Is it a new build or an older house?

Does it coincide with the times your heating comes on?

No thumps. Almost like what you would see on The Twilight Zone when the victim has to cover their ears. Sharp I check the attic all the time and never see anything flying around or running on the floor. I had insulation blown in a couple of years ago and a lot of it lays on the top of the attic floor. A Contractor told Me that the area around the roof was secure.

I have not seen any birds in that area of the roof. I also check around dusk for bats and don't see any flying out.

Older House. 1920's. Tin ceiling in Living Room. Never had noise before last February. Every Season.

Random. It happens all year round. I don't think heating is a factor. I do have central air conditioning as well.

I think it is birds. We have the same sounding noises at the same times of day and have seen some little starlings coming and going
