Negative test but sure I'm pregnant

Helllo

Im new here 😊.

I have been feeling pregnant for the past few weeks . I've put on weight and I struggle to sit comfortably. I can definitely feel lots of movement in my tummy but all tests are negative.

I have had 4 pregnancies before but my last was 10 years ago .

I know the exact date of conception which would put me at around 5 months.

Has anyone had any negative tests at this point but still been pregnant?

Thanks Smile

Have you been to the Doctor and asked for a blood test? That will tell you if you're pregnant or not.....

Have you tried diluting your wee? There's a thing called the hook effect that when you have a really high level of pregnancy hormone, it can present as a false negative. Diluting your urine can solve the issue.

That said, if i thought I was 5 months pregnant and had had zero antenatal care, I would be booking a private scan immediately and not waiting to go through the NHS pathway to find out.

Sometimes inflammatory bowel disorders can mimic the movements associated with pregnancy. Can you palpate your abdomen and feel your uterus? I would book a scan now and find out one way or another. Keep the doctor's appointment because If you're not pregnant, there's something else going on that needs looking at.

I think I'd be really worried about that in case its something else. Not to alarm you OP but I think that some health conditions can leave you feeling this.

I'm so confused ... I did 4 test earlier some of which I did dilute my urine all negative ... I've just done one now and got a positive result but the test line showed before the control line ??

That's not unusual - the urine hits the test line first so it it's a strong positive then it'll show before the control (and might even take colour away from the control). How strong is the positive line? What brand of test?

Confusedkim · 06/03/2020 12:54

It's a cheap stick and the positive is definitely there it's dark but not as dark as the control line ? I've tried to post pic but it wont let me Sad

The control line didn't show up straight away either ?

I think you need to phone your local antenatal team and ask for an urgent appointment. Tell them exactly what you have written here. Is there a reason why you have left it so late to seek professional advice?

Confusedkim · 06/03/2020 15:33

I have rang and a midwife is ringing me on Monday.

The reason for being so late is that I've just not noticed anything until now ... I don't have periods due to taking the pill (which I have had a few gaps in ) so not noticed the usual tell tale signs .

How did it go, OP?
