Worried about headphones for my child

My child has been asking for a headset to listen to music, however I don't know where I stand on this topic. What concerns should I have, and what advantages would this give my child and me. I only want whats best for him, but I feel woefully out of touch with the youth of today, lol.

I should preference this by saying my child is 5 years old, but I do have a friends mum who has a child aged 10, who has voiced similar worries as me.

Thanks for your help, first time posting smile.

As long as you monitor the music selection and have appropriate filters for online music streaming i dont see any concerns with it.

I would set some expectations just for balance around the amount of time they can be sat listening to mus c/watching videos because you want them engaged and playing too. and no headphones at the dinner table etc

If it helps, I have Spotify family, so I get to vet the music the DC's listen to and they each have their own playlist made up of tracks they've asked for and have been "approved". DD8 and DS4 both love music and the only way I can maintain any sanity is by them each having their own headphones (noise limited ones so as not to affect their hearing)

It works well for us, but you need to have open conversations about the content in music and understand what you do and don't find acceptable for your own DC

Okay thank you, is there any headphones you've seen that could help me? Or some that would be great for my child because all I seem to be able to find is those batman style ones and surely they are just normal headphones, lol.

Thank you for your help Smile.
