Hi,

I currently live in England, and would like to move closer to family.
Anyone no any good areas of Newport Gwent to live in.
Somewhere near good high schools, quiet less busy areas.

Looking to buy a house, I have family in pill area but I personally don’t like it.

Anyone have an idea and can help?

Rhidwrin and baseleg are nice areas

I'm in Newport.

Do you want a new build or an older home? Rhiwderin, Bassaleg and Alt-Yr-Yn are lovely but expensive. There are new builds just off Cardiff Road that are lovely and very central to the town, hospital, parks and retail shops.

I live in a 'not great' mostly council area in the most lovely, quiet cul-de-sac with brilliant neighbours so all is not lost finding a safe, quiet place to live in the less expensive neighbourhoods.

Those are the areas I’ve been looking in, it is super expensive. It’s paying for the area as the houses there are really nothing special, very similar to houses in a different area which are half the price.

The new builds off Cardiff road are very small, and because of the two way access I’ve noticed a lot of traffic flow through and cause congestion.
The design of the roads are not good.

I would prefer a nice estate not really a new build as I find them much smaller gab older houses. Budget is £250k

The Catholic school is the best high school we have, St Joseph's in Duffryn. They do accept non-catholics but I think it's quite difficult to get in - or it was when I was there! I Iive around there and it's very quiet this side of the estate and the houses are ex-council but very decently sized.

Here's one in a close street to where I am: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-54631197.html

Bit of a fixer upper but at a good price and a stone's throw from John Frost High School and St Joseph's plus Asda is down the road (24 hour) with an excellent bus link to town and one that stops every twenty minutes practically outside to Cardiff which is amazing if you don't drive.

There are a few new builds just off the estate at a higher price but I'm personally not a fan of new builds. The council tax is nice and low on these older houses too with a decent sized garden etc.

If it's a flat you're looking for, these are lovely inside, close to Asda, the local shop, both schools and the National Trust park Tredegar House.

I’ve found a nice house in Baseleg the area doesn’t look too bad but wondered if you would no better. It’s in Chanel view baseleg.
Ideally want to be near the baseleg high school

I need a large family house the more space the better
