Hi my son and d-in-l are expecting their first baby. Any book recommendations I can get them please? There are so many on the market, which ones did any of you find most helpful for pregnancy?

Congratulations!
I quite enjoyed the Pregnancy Bible (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0600631400/ref=tmmhrddtitle0?ie=UTF8&qid=1525810963&sr=8-1) as it is full of information, and also has a weekly update on your baby's size and what is forming that week.
You can get it much cheaper than Amazon have it for though, so definitely worth shopping around!

PS have you thought of what you'd like to be referred to once you are a grandparent? My Mum had a set idea, but DD's mispronounced version of it is what we now all call her!

Thank you totallyLosingIt!! I'm so excited!! Yes, I looked at that book by Anne Deans. I need to find out which is the latest edition as obviously things change over time due to research etc. (When I had my children the advice on sleeping them on their back/front changed in the space of a year due to cot death)
I think I'd like Nanny or Nanna my husband wants to be called Pops!

Congrats to you all Op. it's lovely you're thinking about getting a book :)

Think carefully. Have they asked you to get them a book? Did you get them a book about being married or conceiving? I

I would have been annoyed if my MIL had got me a book about being a parent. But I admit she was an interfering busybody who culdn't keep her nose out of my life.

ARRDmum · 11/05/2018 08:15

Thank you FrozenMargarita17. Hopefully they can refer to it if, and when, they need to😊

Quertyuiopy No I didn't get them a book about being married because they have chosen not to. I didn't get them a book about how to conceive either but they seem to have managed very well. The reason I have chosen to buy them a book about pregnancy is because I was invited to stay with them and they had so many questions that I thought this style book might be useful. I'm not telling them how to parent and I'm not an interfering busy body. I'm very lucky I have a wonderful relationship with my son, his girlfriend and also her family😊

Congratulations OP!

The best thing you can do is share their excitement with them, and it sounds like you are already doing that.

I liked what to expect when you're expecting

ARRDmum · 11/05/2018 09:47

Thank you, I'll have a look at it😊
