12 year old moving to the UK

My sister in law and family are uprooting
their lives in Scandinavia and coming to the UK as her husband has been relocated through work.
They’re bringing their children and I’m wondering what I can do to help ease their move? I’m thinking of their 12 year old daughter and younger son who will be moving country and schools.
We have kids but they’re much younger. So... What do 12 year old girls like? And what brands are “cool”? .. For those of you with daughters of the same age, what could I buy to help her fit in at school? I’m thinking
type of school bag, pencil case etc etc When I was at school stuff like that was really important and I’m worried she’ll be isolated as she doesn’t speak brilliant English yet and want to help them as much as I can. It’s a big thing to
leave everything you know at that age even though she’s moving with her family.

I think a lot of it depends on region.

Whereabouts are they moving to?

Don’t buy her anything to “fit in” at school!! No way. Let her pick her own stuff for school. You could buy them something for their new bedrooms if you wanted but really don’t start trying to guess what is “cool” with 12 year olds. For starters, they aren’t all the same.

Great idea re gifts for bedrooms. Thanks for that. I’m so worried for her. She’s very sensitive and just hope that this move doesn’t make her feel out of her depth.
SIL is quite a strong character and I know DN confides a lot in her granny, who obviously isn’t moving with them. Thanks for answers so far.
