1st Holy Communion and Confirmation Dresses

Hi, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. Is there a difference between 1st holy communion dresses and confirmation dresses? Also what time of year do each take place?

PS I'm a new member!

First Holy Communion is usually a white mini wedding dress type and confirmation is either school uniform or something nice and dressy. Usually spring time.
