Pregnant, and have a 5 month old

Hi, this is my first time posting, just hoping for some advice really. I have a 3 year old ds (4 in march) and a 5 month old dd, and thanks to contraceptive failure, I have just found out I am pregnant again. Of course I feel so blessed, but this baby was not planned, and I worry how difficult it will be with a 14 month gap between the youngest two, and feel scared I won't be giving the 14 month old the attention she deserves. It's also the practical things like how will 3 car seats fit in my hyundai tuscon (selling not an option- we literally bought it 4 days ago!). If anyone has any advice I would be so grateful, thank you.

Well first, congrats on the pregnancy. There's plenty of other people with short gaps between their kids, and I'm sure they all turned out fine. Your oldest will be at school so you'll have the extra time to spend on the youngest two.
As for the car seats, I remember seeing something on the telly about a car seat that takes up the whole back seat of a car and can fit up to 4 children across, but I had a Google and I think it was just a Kickstarter thing and was just a prototype so you can't buy it yet. Instead I found this that might help: www.madeformums.com/reviews-and-shopping/best-car-seats-that-fit-3-in-the-back-of-most-cars/43033.html

Hope it helps :)

Thank you so much for responding, feel much less overwhelmed now, that the shock has worn off! Of course this baby is a blessing, but was just a bit overwhelmed with guilt for my other two, as well as the practicalities (we have recently moved and were going to need me to work part time once maternity leave finished!). But in the cold light of day, I am over the moon to be having another baby, and dh is super supportive, so all will be fine I'm sure!

11 months between our youngest two and I panicked when I found out (16 weeks gone with a 6 month old). I can’t imagine life any different now, they’re 3 & 4. Congratulations!

I've got the exact same gaps! Love it! You'll be fine!

IamPickleRick · 05/01/2018 19:57

I've got a similar gap. 15mo and an older one. The big changes were new house and new car, but day to day there's not much difference. I just donthe same things I did before but with two. My eldest is at school though so that helps. Plus they nap at the same time and sleep through. It's massively daunting but you'll get there Flowers

In terms of car seats the diono radian can be put 3 across a backseat and can be used rear facing newborn to 7yrs so you could have one for each child across the backseat comfortably

IamPickleRick · 05/01/2018 19:59

I meant 15mo gap! So 5 months, 20 months and an older one. The benefits are that they love each other more than anything.

Here's a pic to give you an idea of what i mean

Thank you so much everyone, your responses have really made such a difference, I really am do grateful! I'll look into those car seats as soon as I have the 12 week scan & hopefully everything ok! I'm going to have an early scan in 2 weeks to confirm uterine placement as I have a stomach condition, so wouldn't be able to differentiate between that, and any issues with the pregnancy pain wise- the only thing that would shock me now is if it was twins!!
