Hi Everyone,

So I am a first time mom to 6 month old baby girl, and step parent to my partners 2 girls aged 12 and 9 who we have every other weekend.
Finding out we were expecting was most welcome as we had been trying for 4 years, I was so excited to share the news with the girls and for them to be apart of what was to come so once we had the all clear we shared the joy and then...

Bump in the road... the Ex is also pregnant and is due 2 weeks before me but hadn't yet informed the girls. My heart sank, this was my time... my turn why?!?!?!?!

So both me "step mommy" and "real mommy" are having babies the girls original excitement turned to oh god now we'll have two screaming babies to deal with.

Fast forward to the here and now, we are heading to get the girls and I dread it. As soon as we are home I am compared to their mother and my daughter compared to their brother. "Q does that, can Sapphire?" "mommy has one of them, why dont you?" "Q Can roll, why cant Sapphire?" I constantly grit my teeth and disappear upstairs just to get away from the judgement... Yes I said it judgement from children.. Why am I even bothered? My partner just takes it on the chin but it really frustrates me, we have different parenting skills to his ex and I feel like I am a keeping up with the Jones' or not as the case may be.

My partner saw me on here typing away and I dont really know how to talk to him about it, I dont want him to see me as being petty.. Am I?! I dont know. I am pleased the girls have two siblings they love and want to share stuff with me but I dont want to be compared to their mother.

Am I being unreasonable?? I just want to enjoy my daughter and the time the girls are here with us not be questioned on her ability or compared to their brother. I know they are children and mean no harm but I cant seem to get past it.

Thanks for taking the time to read
