Sex after birth - tearing during intercourse

Hi,

I am a bit embarrassed to talk about this... but I am so anxious that I need to ask if anyone has had it happen to them.

It's been 7 weeks since giving birth and I had a 2nd degree tear. As I wasn't happy with the 'bedside manner' of the dr that stitched me.. and knew she was doing a terrible job, especially after making me wait over half an hr whilst I was adding another 300ml of blood loss to the already 100ml lost; I had my usual dr check me down there and she says that the way I have been stitched, will probably lead to me tearing the first time having intercourse... and it's got me scared and making it the last thing I want to do... Has anyone else experienced this?

I feel that the only way I can do it is by getting so drunk that I won't feel it... and as I am breastfeeding that's a bit hard :-(

I think you need to speak to your health visitor or gp and ask them to check the tear for you? Don't have sex until you get the all clear.

Oh, and congrats on your baby! SmileFlowers

Could you ask your GP to refer you to a gynaecologist or whoever would be the best doctor to er tidy you up, as it were?

Please don't force yourself to have PIV sex if it's going to cause pain and further injury Sad

There are plenty of other sexual things you can do, if you want to, while you give your body more time to heal.

Its perfectly ok to ask to have the stitching revised. Its minor surgery with a little sedation. Its very important to be comfortable with having sex, its a major part of normal life and no one should have to suffer pain during sex when its possible to easily resolve the issue.

Give yourself plenty of time to heal - I had a 3rd degree tear and made DP wait 6 months! Poor lad Wink but seriously get yourself checked out and give yourself plenty of time to heal - emotionally as well as physically xxxxxx
