Hi everyone,. We're nearing the completion on buying a house in High Highroad Well, Halifax. After moving from London we've been living temporarily in rented accommodation in Boothtown for last few months, searching for the right house to purchase. (Both of our kids were admitted at St Joseph's) We were initially looking at purchasing around Claremont, but the properties were very few and nothing was quite to our taste, We finally found the one that ticked all of the boxes and the area seems to be nice. however we do have our concerns about close proximity from Pellon which seems to be pretty run down (with lots of slovakian gypsies about). We've noticed that It also seem predominantly Asian community around Pellon. Are there any clashes between communities? Were we use to live in London we got on really well with our Asian neighbours both sides (one Pakistani, and the other one Bangladeshi). Do both, Asian and Native live in relative Harmony in Halifax? Do they socialise wit one another or do they tend to keep themselves to themselves? What are your thoughts on Highroad Well/ Norton Tower in general?

Halifax is like other areas, there's nice areas and not so nice areas......

As you have noticed, there is a large Asian, and Eastern European community around Pellon and Kingscross which are also low income areas.

Perhaps have a walk/drive around the area of the property at different times of day to get a feel for the area.

We've done it multiple times, and allways had a good vibes from both, Norton Tower, and Higroad Well... However the underlying issues might not be so obvious to spot for someone from the outside

Being on the outskirts, I don't think that you'll have any issues.

You won't really need to go into Pellon or Kingscross unless you need to access health services or use the supermarkets. Both main supermarkets ok.

I'd perhaps have a quick look at the crime statistics for the postcode to see if there are any issues in your direct area.

Meant to say that both the main supermarkets in Pellon and Kingscross are ok. Kingscross has the added bonus of having a costa! ☕️
