Induction - do drugs wear off and cervix close?

Hi all,
I'm currently undergoing induction of my first child and have had the 24 hour pessary and two 6 hour tablets. I'm waiting to be checked to see if my son is now low enough for them to break my waters but there is a back log of ladies waiting to go to the delivery unit.
I just wondered, if I have to wait ages, will the drugs wear off and cervix close back up?? I'm 42+1.
