Anyone else suddenly struggling to cope?

I'm female, around 40, and have long suspected I have ASD. There's a chunky family history and frankly I fit a lot of the diagnostic criteria. I've never been exactly socially smooth, but I got by and had some good tactics which seemed to work. But recently I just seem to be really struggling with so much that wasn't a challenge before. Makeup/jewellery? Honestly can't see the point. My child hurts himself in a minor avoidable accident? Genuinely struggling to care. My husband is upset? I have to feign interest. I JUST DON'T CARE. Plus sounds are louder/more irritating, my rigidity is increasing, I can't focus on work....

GAH. Anyone out there with any wisdom/experience?

No wisdom but I can relate. I have a diagnosis of Asperger's.

Struggle to listen or cope with the demands of husband and young children. Just want to be on my own somewhere so my brain can switch off for a while. Not sleeping well, binge eating, spending too much money, not organised with housework, struggling to focus on paid work. Obsessed with certain interests. Barely speaking. Hate being touched.

No idea what to do about it all, though.

The older I get the worse I cope.

No advice I'm afraid, but I am also struggling to cope as I get older :(

Some aspects of depression can manifest like this. Burnout certainly does.

Thanks for the replies - I'm sorry there are more people feeling like this!

I did also wonder if it's perimenopause - my DM and aunt both went through menopause early (45/40) and I'm about the right age. Yay :/
