I’m wondering if anyone can help as I’m going round in circles with this. We’ve decided we’d like a family dog and believe it would benefit our family lots. We have two DD aged 8 & 6, our 6 year old has recently been diagnosed with autism and adhd. She struggles with boundaries & space, often doesn’t listen particularly when excited and is quite full on altogether. She suffers from anxiety quite a bit too. We want a dog who will be patient with her.
I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with dogs and autistic & adhd children and what breeds they would recommend. The internet is telling me golden retrievers or labs but I’ve heard mixed reviews on labs.
I grew up with three dobermans, they were lovely but I don’t think they would work for us as a breed.
