Is anybody else just bad at practical thinking and common sense?

I don't know if this is just from ADHD, autism, being hit by a rock 10 years ago (that's a long story) or just me being dumb, but I kind of lack common sense and thinking skills. I know a lot of trivia and like to do philosophical conversations, but in everyday life, I'm going to be blunt here, I'm just plain stupid at figuring things out. I somehow manage to screw up even simple tasks, to the point that I have trouble finding a job. I once managed to set food on fire in the microwave. Somebody told me to “buy 1 loaf of bread, but if there are eggs, buy 2 cartons” and I wandered around the store trying to find the cartons of bread.
I'm not going to be all negative or self hating, I'm not using “stupid” as an insult here, I know that it doesn't make me a bad person or anything and it doesn't affect my self worth, I'm just wondering if anybody else experiences the same thing and what I can do about it. Are there any guides on common sense or something?

Oh lordy… me! I’m considered “smart” but have the common sense of a brick. I take things very literally and will accept almost anything as fact - especially if it is said with conviction. My brain works at the speed of a stoned sloth swimming through cold treacle. Nothing helpful to offer but know that you are not alone.
